Our Sixmonthiversary

Today Seattle and I celebrate our Sixmonthiversary. It was just six months ago today I boarded that American Airlines flight, and my life was forever changed. I became Seattle’s newest resident.

I sit here writing this in what I could only describe as exactly what I wanted my life to look like when I got to Seattle. I’ve got trip hop music videos streaming, the apartment is accented with bright colors, I’m enjoying some of Washington’s finest while overlooking the beautiful downtown city, and it’s raining. And I’m doing all of this alone. And it’s exactly what I want to be doing. I cannot help but to think of the song that really spoke to me as I was sitting at DFW waiting for my flight to take off – Me, Myself, & I. A song about independence. About being there for yourself. A song that will probably forever speak to me because of that moment in my life when I needed the reassurance and inspiration for personal growth.

As I reflect back I can’t help but to smile, realizing how far I’ve come personally, not only in the 6 months in Seattle, but in the past couple years of my life. There are plenty of people that will tell you to live every day to it’s fullest, but hearing it is not the same as living it. I wake up living this everyday – I find myself doing things I would have not dreamed of in the past, breaking outside my comfort zone, and finding a sense of adventure and happiness in doing so. I’ve also learned to be more authentic in myself from the way I interact with others to my own internal thoughts and beliefs. Really being honest with myself is one of the hardest, yet most freeing things I’ve ever had to do in my life.

Since I’ve been in Seattle, I’ve started a podcast, become active in yoga, and started eating a much healthier diet. All things that I’ve found to help my personal growth, in a multitude of ways. In the next six months I am looking forward to spring and summer; exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest, camping, biking, drone flying, photography, and a whole lot more.

To all my friends and family out there: I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all of the support everyone has provided me, not only here in Seattle, but in Texas and around the world. I feel fortunate to have you all in my life! Also, a big thank you to my wonderful boss and Amazon for not only providing me this opportunity, but for being a great place to work, with awesome challenges, but more importantly amazing people.

Oh, it’s just me, myself and I
Solo ride until I die
Cause I got me for life
(Got me for life, yeah)
Oh I don’t need a hand to hold
Even when the night is cold
I got that fire in my soul
