I’m Choosey: My Default Browser

Problem Most modern day nerds have no less that three browsers and browssing profiles installed on their machines. We use different browsers for different things. You might have Firefox for using evil Meta apps, a Chrome profile for Work, a separate Chrome profile for testing, Edge for Microsoft apps, and Safari for everything else.

Hugo: Updated

As I detailed in my recent Hugo blog post, I wanted to have Github invoke an action that automatically deployed my site upon commit of new code. As I was looking around the internet for inspiration, I stumbled upon Render which hosts unlimited static sites for free and integrated with Github to automatically deploy.

Hugo: My New Blog Platform

Overview My blog has lived a number of places across the web including Tumblr, Squarespace, and WordPress. Earlier this year I made a decision to take it a completely new direction - Hugo + Git + an object storage bucket. Hugo is a CLI static site generator - all of my pages and posts are markdown files that Hugo marries with a theme, and outputs in static HTML which lends to small site size and incredible speed.

#LaunchAmerica

There are a lot of things going on here on Earth that are hard to process and deal with physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Seeing #LaunchAmerica happen is truly awe-inspiring, and brings hope. It should be a reminder that all but five humans are sharing a planet together at this moment. I previously stored my recovery key for macOS FileVault with iCloud, but ran into issues one day and couldn’t get back into my computer. (Thank god for Backblaze!) Now I store it in 1Password, but I had a panic this morning when setting up encryption for some other disks - did I have the correct recovery key saved?

#MeToo

My father raped me. And it has taken me half my life to find the courage write those four words. At the age of 16 I had to endure something that I hope no other person, especially a child, has to experience. And most definitely not at the hands of a parent.

One Year later

This past week marks the end of my first year in Seattle. I can’t help but to think back to when I was walking out of SeaTac airport one year ago. I was a bundle of emotions. Excited. Scared. Intrigued. Nervous. And feeling immensely independent. My entire life was changing right before my eyes, and I had no idea what the future held for me.
